A special tip for a winter-walking-tour which you can also do by snow shoes in the snowy loneliness between Val di Funes and Val Gardena with a wonderful panoramic view

At Ortisei the cable car to Mount Rasciesa starts, this Mountain separates the northern side of the westerly Val Gardena and the Val di Funes. Compared with the monumental Dolomites this mountain appears a bit unimpressively, but in winter time it is a special adventure to be there. Here you can get away from it all, no confusion as in the ski resorts, silence and pure nature.
The mountain station of the cable car is our starting point. We take the mark no. 35 in eastern direction to the Alpe di Brogles. Passing “Cason” the path leads us a bit down through the wood and carries on through the snow-covered hillsides of the Inner-Rasciesa. We go on until the turn-off to the path to Furnes, here we can already see the Alpe di Brogles below the majestic peaks of Odle.
The approx. 5 km of walk in an altitude-level between 2,000 and 2,200 m took us less than two hours. Despite the high season we have met only few other hikers, we could enjoy the silence in this wonderful nature, which was only cut by the light wind and the singing of some birds sometimes.
Notice:
The hut at Alpe di Brogles is closed in winter, notice that you have to take your food with you in your rucksack. If you want to have a rest in a restaurant, however the mountain restaurant Rasciesa at the cable car station is open. In the condition of deep snow it is necessary to take snow shoes with you.
