The World Cup races in Val Gardena harken back on a long history. Already in 1969 important races in Alpine skiing were staged in this valley. Including the World Championships in Alpine Skiing in 1970, already at that time more than 66 international races have been staged on the slopes Cir, Ciampinoi, Ronc and Saslong.
Among the winners of the downhill, there are Kristian Ghedina, Michael Walchhofer, Peter Müller or Rob Boyd, to mention only some. Super-G winners were the local skier Werner Heel, Didier Cuche or Lasse Kjus. By the way, the first Super-G on the Saslong was staged in 1983 and was won by Pirmin Zurbriggen.
Of course there is also a highly diversified after-show programme. Sports, entertainment and celebrities all in one, what more could one want?
