The Via Crucis in Selva Gardena starts in the small locality of Daunëi and is a very popular destination in every season of the year. Moreover, it is one of the oldest walking trails in the Val Gardena and distinguishes itself mainly through its extraordinary landscape. In the rectory of Selva Gardena you can buy a small information book on the Via Crucis.
From Daunëi, the trail leads to the St Sylvester Chapel in the Vallunga, passing under the Mt Stevia rockfaces. The Via Crucis has 15 Stations of the Cross, depicting the final hours of Jesus Christ. Interestingly, those stations were carved from tree trunks by local artists in the year 1983.
