Over the years, this very particular autumn market has become a big festival and tourist attraction
The “Segra Sacun” autumn market takes place every year on the Monday, which follows the San Giacomo parish fair in the small village of San Giacomo near Ortisei, which is celebrated on the second Sunday of October.
The residents of Ortisei sell a vast variety of typical local food and products in an open market in the main square and along the streets of the town. Moreover, the "Segra Sacun“ is particularly popular for an old local custom: every man in love buys a decorated pear at the market and gives it to his beloved. In the following year on Easter Sunday, if the woman is in love with him, too, she will give him some Easter eggs he will have to collect at her home in order to finally win her heart.
At the "Segra Sacun“ you can not only enjoy great traditional food but also admire the most beautiful traditional costumes.
