Beneath the 2,519 m high Mt. Seceda, the wide Secëda Meadows with beautiful mountain huts are located

The Seceda (Secëda in Ladin) in the Odle Group is partly steep and crumbly. But to the south-east it becomes a gently rising high alp. The meadows of the Seceda border the Rasciesa High Alp and the Mastlè Alpine Pasture and form together a spacious highland in the heart of the Gardena Dolomites.
By the way: the name Seceda comes from the Latin word siccus, which means dry. And really, the pastures beneath the summit are rather barren. In winter the Seceda is a skiing area and venue of the Gardenissima, the longest giant slalom race worldwide.
In summer, the mountain and its alpine meadows turn into a famous hiking area. Numerous paths proceed to several mountain huts, like to the Curona Hut just above the Sella Cuca saddle. The area is accessible from Ortisei by the Seceda Cable Car.
