From S. Cristina the Monte Pana High Plateau stretches until the Alpe di Siusi to the west, the alpine meadows gently merge. There are plenty of hiking and cycling possibilities in this area. Also the two popular panoramic mountains Bullacia and Monte Piz can be found here between the Val Gardena valley and the Alpe di Siusi.
The Alpe di Siusi, Mont Sëuc in Ladin, covers a surface of 56 km² and stretches above the villages of Castelrotto, Siusi allo Sciliar and Fiè allo Sciliar at an altitude between 1,680 and 2,350 m a.s.l. The high alp is surrounded by the impressive mountain groups of the Dolomites, as the Sassolungo Group and the Sciliar Massif. The southern part of the Alpe di Siusi is protected in the Sciliar-Catinaccio Nature Park.
Already in 1600 the Alpe di Siusi was documented. Today it is accessible from Val Gardena by the Mont Sëuc Cable Car starting from Ortisei. In summer the Alpe di Siusi invites to numerous hikes, for example along the Hans und Paula Steger Path, in winter it attracts plenty of winter sportspersons. The Alpe di Siusi Skiing Area is connected with the one of the Val Gardena and part of the Dolomiti Superski ski carousel.
