Image gallery: Sundial on the Juac Alp
At the Juac alpine pasture, above Selva di Val Gardena, a popular excursion destination in summer, a particular artwork can be found: Roland Moroder, an artist of Val Gardena, has constructed a sundial in the middle of a huge meadow.
In the alpine meadows, at 1,903 m a.s.l., a cone with a circle around is located, an oversized work which shows the time. Together with his brother Simon, Roland Moroder has been realising sundials for 35 years now. 24 of them are placed in their garden, further were mounted on house facades. On the Monte Pana in Val Gardena a sundial done by Simon Moroder is situated, which shows the local time of 60 global cities.
The sundial at the Juac alpine pasture can be reached within an easy walk starting at Selva di Val Gardena. From the district of Daunëi, the path no. 3 proceeds to the alpine pasture (about half an hour) which is located at the edge of the Puez-Odle Group. Also the Juac Mountain Hut can be found here and invites to take a rest.
