In the crib museum in Pontives near Ortisei, scenes of the most famous Italian and Austrian crib makers can be admired

Since 1970, the Heide company in Pontives in the Val Gardena has been producing wood carvings, in particular wooden cribs. Probably their most famous crib is the "Ankleidekrippe", a crib with movable figures which are particularly suited for getting dressed. Serial productions in various sizes and with different clothing are part of the range produced by Heide but also custom-made products.
Drafts and production exclusively take place in the Gardena valley. To make this variety and additional works of selected international artists accessible to the general public, in 2012 the Nativity Museum Heide was opened on a surface of 500 m², displaying 40 masterpieces. Furthermore, the 150 m² big Original Heide Shop offers crib figures in various sizes and models. The museum is not barrier-free yet.

The Nativity Scene Museum stays open from Monday to Friday all year round, Saturday and Sunday rest days. It remains closed on public holidays and during the Christmas holidays.
