The settlement of Oltretorrente, in Ladin language called Sureghes, is located on the left side of the Rio Gardena river

Actually Oltretorrente belongs to the municipality of Castelrotto, which is referable to the Rio Gardena river passing through Ortisei, as this river represents the official border between the two municipal territories. Nevertheless the "feeling“ conveys that it is part of Ortisei. Eventually there are a series of bridges taking over the above mentioned river, connecting the area also to the meadows of the Sciliar nature park.
Oltretorrente is located in a very strategic position: in the southern part of the village, a road branches off via the Passo Pinei, taking to Castelrotto. The best at the end: from Oltretorrente you can easily reach the centre of Ortisei on foot.
